The new 4-valve, 165cc engine makes 18.24 hp at 9,500rpm and 14.4 Nm at 8,000rpm, up from the older 2-valve unit’s 15.78 hp at 8,750rpm and 14.65 Nm at 6,750rpm – so it’s a shift toward higher-revving performance rather than more low-end torque. Cooling also moves from air to oil, and throttle control switches from mechanical to electronic (ETB), which is what enables the new ride modes, traction control and crawl function in the first place. Claimed 0-60kmph time is 4.5 seconds and Bajaj says this is the quickest and most powerful engine in the segment, though that’s a manufacturer claim worth verifying against independent tests once reviewers get seat time.
