Lord Krishna’s rath conquers Central London! Thousands of devotees led by ISKCON set precursor to the mother event at Puri Jagannath

Thousands of Krishna devotees led by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) thronged the streets of London as the annual rath yatra rolled out a few days ago.

Devotees from different parts of the UK and other countries in Europe descended in London to attend the event braving a hot summer. Finely decorated chariots, three of them, made their way through the streets of central London bringing one of busiest parts of the world to a virtual standstill. The chariots were pulled from Park Lane to Trafalgar Square.

An event that happens every year, the London rath yatra is considered the second largest congregation of Krishan devotees, second only to its original form at the Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha.

After London, similar rath yatras happen across the UK most notably in Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester before the grand Puri event on July 16.
