As Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes India to a seventh record time at the G7 summit at Evian-les-Bains in France, the country eyes a place at the global high table in the new world order.
While Tuesday saw PM Modi taking the initiative to break the ice with President Trump, more bilateral meetings are expected through Wednesday including a dialogue on the killing of three Indian seafarers in the Gulf of Oman by the US Navy.
While Modi has already had multiple conversations with the French president and the British and Canadian Prime Ministers, he also expected to meet a host of other dignitaries and top brass of major business houses on the sidelines of the summit.
Canada has meanwhile invited PM Modi to the visit the country this year to finalize a trade deal similar to what India has already achieved with the United Kingdom.
As current chair of the BRICS India will certainly look to use this space at the G7 to further strengthen its role as a leader of the global south.
