Over the past ten years, the number of UPSC CSE applications has fluctuated visibly between 9.4 lakh and 11.4 lakh, rather than increasing steadily. According to the table, the highest number of applications was recorded at 11,35,943 in 2016, but the number of applications again touched the 11 lakh mark in 2019 and 2022. Nevertheless, the figures have declined persistently since 2022, plummeting to 9,37,876 in 2025 — the lowest in the past decade.
