Graves Dug, 3,000 Deaths Acceptable: Inside Irans Contingency Plan for Ali Khamenei Funeral – Report

The Iranian Red Crescent Society and the Iranian National Crisis Management Organisation appear to have developed a confidential letter to Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Aref that identifies projections for a worst-case scenario of 1,500 to 3,000 people dead in funeral processions, according to reports by Die Welt newspaper. The Die Welt has also reported that Iran’s government has created a special task force to handle missing persons and fatalities, and new grave sites have been started at Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery in Teheran. In addition, an employee of the Tehran municipal government, who is being kept anonymous for his safety, spoke to the Die Welt and confirmed that there were in fact preparations being made for the emergency.
